The JPIAMR - Action project is a critical multinational initiative in the fight against antimicrobial resistance, a global health issue with serious implications. Funded by the European Commission and coordinated by VETENSKAPSRADET (SRC) in Sweden, the project is being implemented from 2021 to 2025 and involves an impressive network of 26 partners from various countries.

The ambitious objectives of this joint programming initiative focus on identifying new molecular markers for rapid diagnostics and developing new antibiotics. The project aims to identify 40-80 new markers and 40-50 priority molecules for antibiotic development, advancing them to Phase I clinical trials. Additionally, it seeks to identify at least three alternative treatment methods to enhance the effectiveness of antimicrobial therapies.

Another essential goal of the project is to improve antibiotic prescribing practices by developing rapid diagnostic methods to identify pathogens and their susceptibility to antibiotic treatment within hours. This approach could revolutionize bacterial infection treatment, reducing therapy time and minimizing the risk of antimicrobial resistance.

Furthermore, the project aims to develop strategies for modeling epidemiological scenarios and assessing the risks associated with antimicrobial resistance, intending to identify the clinical and economic impact of this issue on a global scale. Through an extensive network of collaborators from various partner countries, the JPIAMR-Action project has the potential to make significant contributions to the fight against antimicrobial resistance and to promote global public health.

Partner Countries: Sweden, France, Finland, Spain, Israel, Canada, Argentina, Germany, Belgium, Italy, Ireland, United Kingdom, Denmark, Poland, Moldova, Latvia, Norway, Lithuania, Hungary, Estonia.
